I am so excited to share my love of chickens with others!
I have had more than 25-30 chickens in my lifetime (that number will definitely get bigger) and I first started raising chickens 8-9 ish years ago. (One of my chickens lived for 8 and a half years!)
Right now I have 15 chickens. They are all a week or less in age, at LEAST 3 roosters and the rest are hens, hopefully! My chicks consist of 2 Ameraucana, 2 Golden Laced Wynadotte, 2 Red Production, 3 Black Sex-Link, 2 Turken, 2 Jersey Giant and 2 Sapphire Gem. (I had 4 Sex-Link chicks but one unfortunately passed away the day after the chicks arrived home.)
My favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens is watching them grow up and develop their own personalities. I love seeing them grow from fuzzy little cotton balls to big, silly adults. It is rewarding to maintain a relationship with my chickens from chick to hen/rooster. (My chickens are considered pets, if you couldn't tell!)
Some of my hobbies include drawing, gaming (Path of Titans and Ark all the way!), compulsively buying plants and maintaining fish tanks. Carnivorous plants are my favorite, and one day I WILL build a mini bog/terrarium to keep them in.
I credit my family for introducing me to the adventure of chicken keeping!
My other pets include numerous fish, a dog, 2 cats, and invertebrate critters.
I found BYC while researching chickens 8-ish years ago at least. I've read many articles on this site, and I would finally love to join the community!
Thanks for reading!
