hi there!

randomly talking to some friends at dinner about eggs and it lead to keeping your own etc etc and now here i am. i've found that glendora, ca allows 2 hens in your property. luckily one side of my property is a city alley and the back neighbor is below us but i'm still concern about noise with 2 hens specially since glendora is way super quiet (so quiet i can hear the neighbors across the city alley talking. haha.

unfortunately no such thing as cluckless hens so i've been just reading the forum for information on perhaps what on average a less noisy hen would be.

thanks and looking forward to learning more...

Not quite sure what to recommend to you as far as a quieter hen is concerned, but you might want to try looking here for starters:

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...assical-conditioning-to-make-quieter-chickens

Good luck!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. The quietest hens I've raised over the past 50 years have probably been Silkies, Brahmas, Orpingtons, Australorps, and Cochins. If egg production is a priority, Australorps are the best layers on this list. Since your city allows two hens, I think one of these breeds would work okay for you. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Whatever breed you decide to get, good luck with your flock.

Hi! I am also in Glendora and wonder how long chickens would last in a yard with all the coyotes running around!
