Welcome. I am sorry you lost your SS chick. They are one of my favorite breeds. I have one hen and two SS roosters. Your rooster is very handsome. Please consider adding 1/2 inch hardware cloth where you have chicken wire - or replacing it. Chicken wire only keeps chickens in but not keep predators out. Also, if you do not have a hardware cloth apron - add it around the perimeter (it is when you fasten your hardware cloth to the bottom and then extend it on the ground out two feet). This protects from digging predators. Many people think daytime is OK, but it really isn't and there are stray dogs everywhere.
