Complete and utter newbie. My grown son has been taking care of the neighbors chickens since he was a young teen, when they vacationed. I helped a couple years ago when they had new chicks and they went out of town. We were hit by a freak snow storm and luckily none on the chicks in the brooder died. We did run to get another heat lamp to warm the surrounding area. So since then I’ve been taking about chickens. Well he decided to convert his one out building into a chicken coop. It’s pretty much become Alcatraz for security. He also put up an over six foot high horse fence in their large outside area, then meshed it so nothing can weasel in. The chick come in late March.
The brooder will be at our farm as I have the insulated garage, where as his outbuildings aren’t insulated. Hoping non die.
