FYI- According to their webpage this is the last year that Holderreads will be selling chicks. They’ve been slowly getting out of different breeds so they are down to a fraction of what they used to sell.
I’m sad to see them go.

January 2020--As you can see if you've already visited our Duckling and Gosling Price Lists pages, there are some major changes happening here at HWF&PC. Our flocks of Embdens and Buff Africans either have been or are in the process of being sold to other breeders. It was not an easy decision for Dave who has spent decades working with these gorgeous geese. If you'd like information regarding where you can get "our" Embdens and/or Buff Africans, an email is the easiest way to get that information.

Also, The 2020 hatching season is expected to be our last year for shipping hatchlings. If you are interested in purchasing adult birds, this is a good year to get in line for adult birds that will be available Fall 2020/Winter 2021. Contact us for any questions regarding shipping costs and/or how to get in line. (Wanita)”

I put in an order a week ago and learned that the are taking orders for this year's juveniles this fall. Just guessing that their adult birds will be going as complete flocks to breeders. Metzers maybe? Hoping they stay in US. Sorry Canada folks.

I looked at the website, it is as clear as mud. They are no longer selling ducklings but they dont say anywhere that they are closing up. Then they mention that they are selling some of their goose breeders. I think selling ducklings is much more strenuous then selling adults because you have to adhere to a strict schedule. I know Dave is well past retirement age, but hopefully he will still sell adults.

Apricot Valley, and Brad Metzger of Willow Brook Waterfowl are both in Canada and purchased Holderread breeders. They sell birds in the US when they show at the Ohio National.
Urch, also retired recently (US) and it sounds like that was a loss of a quality breeder.
Who are the new breeders replacing the older (waterfowl) generation in the US? How much longer will Sandhill be around, who at least has a diverse collection (quality not on par with Holderreadbased on my purchases)?
