Hole in egg

Hi,

My duck layed an egg this morning which has an almost perfectly round hole in it.
It looks like the egg hasn't formed fully.
Not sure if anyone knows why?
She is on layers pellets and is always digging around in the dirt so I would have though she got plenty of grit.
Any advice is welcomed

Hmmm, interesting. It's obviously not a crack, the edges are nice and smooth. I would just chalk it up to one of those mysteries and wouldn't be concerned unless more like this show up.

Others may have better explanations.

She had a calcium deposit there and it chipped off. Nothing to worry about
