THis is awesome!! Always looking for a less expensive antipersperent, espcially one with out aluminum.. THANK YOU FOR SHARING>Store deodorant does not at all work for me. I have lovely extra bacteria growing under my arms which is genetic, my kids have it too. I've tried the salt rock by crystal, which works okay, but I still perspire.
I found this recipe online, but I don't follow the exact directions.
The recipe calls for
1/4 cup baking soda
1/4 cup cornstarch
6 Tbsp unrefined coconut oil
6-8 drops essential oils(optional)
I tried this and it worked like magic! No more smell whatsoever, which has never happened since I hit puberty. I don't need to rewash under my arms several times a day any longer, plus all the ingredients are natural. Im really into homesteading.![]()
My version is equal parts baking soda/corn starch and just enough coconut oil to make a crumbly mixture for it to stick together. I have 3 types of oils and I've used peppermint so far. I preferred not using the essential oil.
I only need to apply once in the morning and I'm good to go all day no matter how hot and sweaty I may get.
I thought I'd share in case anyone was interested!
Very clever of you!! I was trying to think of a good scent for my tween boy-- maybe orange, or orange and cloves?I always used to have the yellowest, grossest armpit stains. I wish I had known then that all I had to do was switch to a deodorant that did not contain aluminum. No more stains.
Now it looks like I am developing a severe allergic response to everything glycol. They are in everything, including my deoderant. Thank you so much for sharing this glycol-free recipe! I only had arrowroot powder on hand so I subbed that for the corn starch. No essential oils on hand so I added some orange zest. I washed out my old deoderant holder and packed this into it until it formed a tight cake that can be raised and lowered using the holder as normal. It is living in the fridge and I'll give it a try tomorrow.![]()
THe CO I have for eating has NO smell. None. Great for cooking and special confectionary items. So you wont smelll like you are just back from a vaca in the Bahamas!!Does it have a "smell" to it? I was just asking my best friend the other day about something that I could use to replace store bought deodorant. I would like to try this if it doesn't have a scent to it.
