We all know chicken feed is expensive, especially when one bag doesn't last three days.

There is a guy here in my hometown who makes his own broiler and layer feed to sell, I overheard people talking about how much they liked it. I approached the guy, asking about his feed.
He was honest, he said he mixes a little more corn in it so he can sell it cheaper. So he's not sure how well it compares to Layena. It costs 10$ for 60lbs of feed.

I really didn't know what to ask about it, I'm not well educated on feed. I just buy and distribute.
I free range my chickens, but I still give them feed in the coops.

What is YOUR opinion on buying homemade, fresh layer feed, knowing it has more corn than Layena? Chickens love corn, but is it bad for them?
What exactly do hens need to keep them healthy and make good eggs?
