14 days ago I believe a Raccoon killed two of my girls and hurt one really bad I had the two girls 9 years. Broke my heart. My barred rock was younger 3 years old. She must of really fought back. Poor gir has many wounds. I put her in a small coop by her self Been giving her antibiotics and putting antibiotic cream on her wounds twice a day. Her Appetite has picked up. I took her off the pain medicine because it was making her bleed inside. Her droppings are pure black, but now they’re normal. How do you actually tell if a hen is a pain? She is making a soft sound Almost constantly. In the morning about seven she makes a loud noise. And I’m thinking she’s hungry because I bring her food and she’s happy. I Definitely don’t want to see her in pain, so anybody know how can you tell? Any help would be greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Does it eat? Does it flinch when you touch the area of injury? If it flinches when you touch it, it might be in pain. However, if she’s eating the food you bring her, she has the energy to heal. I would cover her wounds, to prevent flies from laying eggs inside her.

Wow. She did fight hard!
Poor girl!

When I have had a chicken in pain they are usually very still, sitting or laying down and usually don't want to eat.

What were you giving her for pain?

Children’s ibuprofen and I tried to give her a low-dose half of an aspirin. She started to have black droppings so after 12 days I stopped

Aspirin should only be given for 2-3 days due to the risk of internal bleeding. Is she moving around okay? I would think that she should need pain meds after this amount of time.
