How do you connect 1/4" hardware cloth together?

I used to have 1/2" hardware cloth that I could connect together with J clips, but if I want to use 1/4" hardware cloth how would I connect them together? What tools would I need?

A small spool of electric fence wire is really cheap and you can sew up the wire end to ensure without any voids. It's easy to bend but hard to rip

I’ve used wire, like @sdm111, to cover a chicken tractor with hardware cloth. I overlapped the hardware cloth a little to help reinforce the connected sections.

The most secure method is to sew the two sections together with tie wire. It's a bit tedious, one has to thread the tie wire through each hole but the end result is worth it in my view.

I zip ties! LOL. Like, seriously. I love them. Use them for everything! You wanna show me love--give me a couple of 1000pk of the 4" zip ties for a holiday and I'm as happy as [insert cliché here].

Can mice and rats squeeze their way inside 1/4" or 1/2" hardware cloth?

I agree with the sewing method. I had to do it on a "sceen" door on the coop. It was worth the effort. But, you will have to do small 3 -4 foot sections at a time because the wire will want to get twisted the more times you weave it.
