There’s a lot of how do you pronounce threads on here but I wanted to do on all the chicken names. As a chicken newbie the names of some breeds are pretty hard to pronounce. I’m looking at you Wyandottes.

I also have been saying ISA browns wrong this whole time. It isn’t I.S.A browns, it’s eesaaa browns. 🤦‍♀️ The letters were all caps so I thought you said them individually.

Clue in a newbie on some of the trickier breeds to say. Some of the ones I stutter over are sagitta, barnevelder, d’uccle, and many more.

MY PRONUNCIATIONS (PROBABLY ALL WRONG BUT IDK)
Wyandottes: Why-un-dots.
ISA browns: I. S. A. Browns. Didn't know it was pronounced eesa. That's gonna take a while to unlearn.
Sagitta: I dunno I've never heard of that breed I'm sorry.
Barnevelder: Barn-eh-vell-der
D'uccle: Duke-lay
I'VE ALWAYS WONDERED HOW YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO SAY AYAM CEMANI
I think it's: I-am-seh-mawn-eeh.

YA LEARN SOMETHIN' NEW EVERYDAY

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one pronouncing it I.S.A browns. It’s going to take me awhile to not think of it, and say it, that way too.
I say ayam cemani the same way. And I’ve been saying d’uccle like duh-uncle. Totally wrong but my brain is just like “yeah that’s how it looks. Say it that way.”

The sagittas I had never heard of either until I picked them up at tsc. I’ve been saying it sa-gee-tahs. No idea if it’s right but that’s how it looks to me.

As for the Wyandottes this name has tripped me up from the beginning. I’ve been saying wine-o-dots. Going to take awhile to fix that too.

Idk about duh-uncle, but I say do-clay. I thought Sagittas was sah-geet-us. Maybe sah-gitt-us? As for Wyandottes, I'm not sure that's how you say it, it's just how I think it's said.

ISA brown....

I’m pretty sure duh-uncle is wrong. My brain just adds an n for some reason. Then I realize there isn’t an n and stutter over the word. I think your way for saying Wyandottes makes more sense than mine. I add another n to that one too. Maybe sah-gitt-us. They both sound really similar.
