How long after Pipping do eggs hatch?!!! Day 21 Broody Hen

Pics
@nchls school I came to a conclusion that both eggs were dead and I wanted to see when they died. So I opened both eggs and they were both fully developed. One was still curled up but the other was in hatching position. But they smelt really bad. Do you know why they would die before hatching?

Thanks, I have Mama Hen and chicks separated in a Broody Coop. She took them out this morning to eat and drink. The other 2 eggs, one had a really big air cell but had a fuzzy faded line. The other one was completely dark. Yesterday I could see the air cell but now that egg is completely dark.
It sounds like the second egg may be beginning to hatch. If you have an incubator or another broody put the egg in/under it.

There are a number of factors that cause a chick to die in the shell; most often the chick is simply to weak.

Listen Cayden05, you did your very best. Don't feel bad about the 2 that didn't make it. It wasn't your fault and couldn't have been avoided! I had an egg that externally piped almost 48 hours ago. I was determined not to intervene (though sorely tempted!!) and just a few minutes ago the chick popped out! It obviously can take a very long time from pip to total hatch!

If the chick did not move when you opened it, it had died. I am positive you would have known when you broke it open if the chick were alive. Now, be happy with the four wonderful chicks that hatched!
Ok Thanks. When I opened them they were not moving.
