How long is too long?

Hullo, and Merry Christmas!
I hate to ask this, but maybe someone will see it. I should know this, but I have been awake since 4 am, and my brain is refusing to recall memory. I have some chicks hatching out, and some have pipped 8 hours ago with no other movement since. Others have hatched and rolled them around a bit, but how long should I wait until I pick at it to make sure they're still alive in there?
Thank you for your patience with my tired old brain.

I would wait at least 24 hours, but I don’t see any reason to even mess with them before you are done with the hatch. If they’re dead, they’re dead, nothing you can do about it. I had a chick that hatched 48 hours after first pip😁

I agree. I’d give them a minimum of 24 hours from pip.

Personally, I don’t mess with any stragglers until all the others have hatched. I don’t want to risk harming the still hatching for one that may or may not still be alive and/or healthy.
