Just a FYI - it is illegal to sell eggs at farmers’ markets, without them being ‘inspected’, here in Canada. And also illegal for your neighbour to re-sell eggs he traded from you. Just be careful with whom you let know or to whom you sell, as they say ‘loose lips sink ships’.Just adding oyster shells in a pile somewhere does the trick for me, whichever hen needs it seems to know to eat them.
Wow i get overwhelmed when i have 3 dozen haha. I can pay for raw milk from a neighborg with eggs when i have too many - he sells them and never has enough! I might bring some to sell at a farmers market too if needed as my egg production will lilely double next year.
I got a white egg in the morning, and one blue in the evening. My third layer is molting so that makes sense.
One can sell eggs from the ‘farm gate’ only, without them being inspected by a federal inspector.
Such a travesty really, I can’t even give extra eggs to the food bank here!
So silly, really all they inspect for is ‘colour’ and size. They don’t inspect for quality of the product. So irritating to think I may have to toss eggs if I can’t get rid of extras.
Ok enough of my whining.
Here is my wee eggs, the pink one one from my Silkie x Polish pullet Betty, and the smaller one in from Mrs Little Chicken my OEGB bantam who just started laying. I love the colour of it!
