I use horse fly spray for lice and mites. Here it has permethrin in it which is good at treating those.

Not sure about your Pestene powder - I’ll have to look it up.

Hope your wee feathered friend is feeling better soon.

Pestene powder is a mix of sulfur and rotenone, this is the first time I used this product. It is widely available here in the pets/animals stores.

All the years before last week I used diatomaceous earth. By chance I read recently that it is not really effective treating lice/mites. I get skin irritation from applying DE to my chickens, I imagine their skin also feel irritate as well. But they don't seem to have issue with lice/mites much.

We have been having so much rain and high humidity thus this is making things worse for chickens in every ways.

A friend told me to add some lime in my garden to reduce the lice/mites. Then I read that lime only make garden soil alkaline and not really do much with lice/mites.....grrrrrr Just conflicting information is driving me crazy.

12 at the moment but there are at least 8 more I haven’t collected yet.

Did a quick ‘feed the horses early’ at 4pm so I could have supper with my family for Easter Monday. Let me tell you the chooks were very displeased with me! No outside time today.

When I do evening chores I’ll make my apologies and check for more eggs
