What no blue eggs?

7 today! Including a first speckled egg from my Welsummer. So happy with the variety of colors! Good job, pullets!

I now have 9 layers. 2 more pullets are holding out.

Very beautiful eggs! I love Welsummers. They’re such beautiful birds and their eggs are always so pretty!

Hopefully she will take a break his winter and start up properly in the Spring.

That's what I'm hoping! She's laid a lot of eggs, so I'm glad she took a 7 month break. She better wait till spring so she can start fresh. A couple months ago she had a bloated abdomen, I thought she wasn't going to make it but somehow the bloating went completely away and is a normal size now! I wasn't sure if it was ascites or something more like a reproductive issue, so I'm glad she's laid cause that likely rules out reproductive issues.

They're all molting a bit and I'm surprised we're still getting that many. This is their first fall and winter. I wonder how much they'll slow down. We have relatively long daylight hours here. On the winter solstice we have 10+ hours.

I have wondered how hens get along with climates where had even daylight hrs. And no cold weather to slow down or stop egg laying.

Eight yesterday! I never got small "first time" eggs from my Easter Eggers and I wonder if they didn't lay those out in the hedge -- they lay in the nests now.. or maybe I am wrong? Maybe they just never had small 'first' eggs? Is that possible?


This is my first flock so I don't really know what is normal yet


Coffee's fourth egg was much better this time and she made it in the nest for the second time! lol

I have cameras in the hen house but they don't always pick up motion so I don't always have snippets of everyone. I need to adjust the settings I think haha not entirely sure at this point who is laying... such a fun mystery!

Also for some reason my camera (pixel 9 phone) just washes out these colors depending on what background I take the photo on. These arent that pastel!

2 very nice Golden Comet eggs in the Crepe Myrtles this morning. It seems to be their new favorite place to lay.

Update*
Went down to feed the horse and checked the coop. Goldie was in the nest box next to this perfect Banty egg. She hasn’t laid an egg in weeks!
