How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

9 yesterday! That little one in the middle is Coffee, I believe -- I'm not entirely sure. She's supposed to be a "Starlight Olive Egger" but I hear half the time they lay brown. She leaves a bunch of white on hers so far - this is her 5th egg and its the smoothest yet but it's got a little white cap on it.

What is that? Extra calcium? Or it didn't lay enough of her color over as it came out?

Also this morning - found a teeny little shell-less egg on the poop table - it's got to be one of my 19 week old girls -- I think all my big girls (26 weeks) are laying, save one.

Two eggs today. I threw a pile of dug-up turf from my yard into the run for the girls to pick through. There was lots of dirt still attached to the roots so hopefully they found a few juicy worms and grubs.

1 or 2 depending how you look at it. Another Banty egg from Goldie in the nest box when I closed up the coop for the night. I found a busted shell-less egg in the Crepe Myrtles.

Also, observed a hen -- and a very HEN looking hen, mount and mate another hen today. And the little hen who 'took it' liked it just fine and ruffled her feathers. lol

Blew my mind.

Also hilariously, when Jane began mating Lola, *everyone* came to watch. The rest of them were SO INTERESTED.

My husband and I were just hanging out with them before closing up time and we just laughed and laughed!!
