How much are Lavender Orpingtons worth?

Hey y'all!

Just a quick question... How much should I expect to get per 5 month old LO chicken? Near VA... Louden county, Winchester area. I guessed about 50$. But i'm not sure

Well, I would be very surprised to $50 for a chicken, unless you are showing birds, and breeding specific lines of Lavender Orpingtons. If you can get it, go for it.

I would pay between $10 - 15 for one.

Well, i got chicks for 20$ per female... and we DO live near the richest county in the U.S after all!

Where did you get the chicks?
From a reputable breeder that is recognized by folks who keep "very pretty and rare breed" chickens?

Like anything, price is dictated by supply and demand, and often marketing techniques.
Do you want to sell local or are you willing to ship?

I suggest that you place a local ad, start your price higher than you want to get and let folks get a 'bargain' by letting them get you to lower your price.

Depends on the quality of the birds and the demand in the area. Sometime you can get $50+ sometimes you have to take $10 just to get rid of them. The ups and downs of the poultry market are unpredictable to say the least. I paid $150 "including shipping form PA to MO'' for my original Jubilee Orp rooster 5 years ago. And now I am selling pairs for $50 this year.
