How much $ for SQ bantam cochin chicks?

I have SQ Blue, Black,& moltted cochin chicks ranging from 5 weeks to day old (straight run).What would be a good price to charge for them at a tailgate sale? I was thinking $6 for day olds. Up to $10 for the 5 week old chicks. I was also thinking I should charge a bit more for the blues than the blacks.I know there harder to find.(mind U it's gonna cost me $10 fee plus gas & time just to sell them)

I don't have an answer to your question but where are you going to have this sale? The reason I'm asking is because we're going "home" to visit shortly and I love that first chick you have in your hand!! LOL

OMG if I come back to TN with more chickens my husband is going to have me committed! ROFL!!

Market price at this time of the yr is about $2-3.00 each if you can get that and no more, $6.00 is very high. but if your a good salesperson you may find someone who doesn't know any better.

If I lived up near you I would buy some of these. They are adorable. I have never sold them but I would expect to be a bit more. If the are SQ I would expect to pay $10 for day olds and more for older ones. When I bought mine, I paid $30-$50 for pairs depending on their quality. I'm sure you won't have any trouble selling them. Good luck!

I'm trying to understand the term SQ. Do you mean they meet the APA standard of perfection or do you mean all the parents to these chicks won at shows, so they have showing potential when they grow up? Since the chicks haven't matured to be assessed or be shown, I'm not sure how you'd know they're show quality.

My concern also...How do you know they will be "SQ" as chicks...maybe refer them to "Breeder Quality" would be better. When I can see the parents stock..and if like them, I would pay 5-7 dollar range for chicks.

The term SQ is used because these birds are the offspring of SQ parents. Not to pat myself on the back or anything, but my chicks have more leg feathers(to the second toe) than most adult birds I see on this site, that have won ribbons @ the fair. They are a far cry from hatchery quality.Your not gonna find chicks like this at tractor supply. I have a great deal of money & time invested to get this type of quality.( I know hatcherys sell them for $3.50 + the $25 they charge to ship,so they end up costing about $5.50 a chick). On this site 6 eggs go for about $25. Thats more than $4 a chick if they all hatch. Which isn't very likely.
