hopefully someone can help me. I think I did the math right but want to be sure I buy enough. We are going to be building our coop and run soon. We will have a section of run attached to the coop (coop will be 8x8) that will have a covered roof. That will be 8'x10' then attached to that will be an uncovered section that I think will be 8'x8' (it will be covered with hardware cloth). I figure the run will be about 6' high (maybe a bit more since my husband is 6'2). I estimated that 150' will cover it with a bit left over for ventilation in the coop. I will also have some from the brooder that I can reuse for ventilation. Did I figure out the correct amt?

I hope I followed your description correctly. I calculated 328 square feet of HC needed, 150 foot roll, 3 feet wide is 450 Square feet, The calculations show you to have sufficient amount.

Thank you! That is around what I got as well. Then the apron which I should have enough for. I am doing a 4' roll so will be 600 sq ft right? but have the apron to go around the whole thing so didn't think the 100 sq ft roll would work and would rather have extra than not enough.

Where in the Wide World of Sports do you find a 4'x150' roll of hardware cloth????
Best I can find is 4/x100' rolls LOL

That's brilliant! I didn't even think of a separate 4'x50' roll!!
I can think of ways to use that!

thanks so much!
glad I could help. We are building a roof covered 8x8 run, a hardware cloth covered 8x10 run, and a raised 8x8 coop that needs cloth around the underside plus the apron for it all so I needed more than 100' but didn't think I needed 200' of it So found the 100' for around $130 I think and 50' from somewhere else for $75 I think so much better than getting 2 100' rolls.

They sell 4'x100' rolls on Amazon for between $160-200 depending on the day and brand (the brand I buy was $175 when I last bought it, now it's $188). I've bought them a few times and it's good wire. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D82U4DE

According to my math you should be good with plenty left over (~45 ft give or take).
Thanks. I found it on chewy I think it was for around $130 on sale! I was so excited so scooped it up. I did get the 50' from amazon since the were the cheapest for that size.

Glad I will have a bit of extra since I will have the eves to do, and windows etc. I do have a 2'x25' roll here and some that I will take off the crate once they are ready to move out that I can use as well.

We're making a 12x12x7 run (with shed style metal roof above the HWC covered top)
I haven't decided whether to do an apron, or dig down and insert the HWC straight down from the foundation and back fill with 3/4- tamped down. Think the 3/4' might help with drainage, but I don't think that's a problem.

The apron would be the easiest I think, but would have to bury it well because I don't want to trip on it.

In addition to the covered run, I want to make a "Pullet" Portable free-range thingy - using PVC and the HWC and light enough for me to move it easily. I want them to "free range" where it's where I want! LOL...in the fall after the veggies are down, they can free range to their pea-picken heart's delight
