Is 1,200 square feet large enough for 7 male heritage turkeys that are pets? They have a 8 x 10 coop they go in at night but I’m concerned about the outdoor pen since from time to time I see them pecking at each other.

The coop is actually too small for them especially if any of the floor space is taken up by a feeder, a waterer or any storage.. They need a pretty good area in order to safely "fly" down from their roosts. It might be alright if you put the roosts outside. Is 1,200 square feet large enough for 7 male heritage turkeys that are pets? I don’t put anything inside the coop other than roost branches and a roost ladder. My turkeys roost outside in an area sheltered from the prevailing wind all year long, no matter what the weather is.
1,200 sq. ft. for the run should be okay but bigger is always better.
No matter how big an area they have, there will always be pecking order squabbles.
Turkeys don't need a roost ladder. They need a lengthy area to fly down from their roosts which is their preferred method of getting down.I don’t put anything inside the coop other than roost branches and a roost ladder. Thank you for your reply.
The way I made it is where they have a low perch to the highest but they are not together like a ladder but goes up like a ladder if you can picture what I mean. Also each perch goes to a branch. They get up and down nicely. I did it that way because I was told by a Turkey Sanctuary over here that as the males get older it gets harder for them to fly up. They do not have a problem perching or flying down. Thank youTurkeys don't need a roost ladder. They need a lengthy area to fly down from their roosts which is their preferred method of getting down.
