How much to install a utility pole?

I'm hoping someone on here can help me a bit with info.

I live in a rural area and have a line coming in from the street attached to a pole next to my house (mobile home). On that pole is my meter and other electrical things.

Yesterday, I had a tree company here, they were taking limbs off a tree growing up into the lines and one of the limbs (a small one) as I was out there watching hit the line and the pole started leaning. Upon closer inspection, looks like the pole is decaying at the bottom, it feels rather soft. The tree people had a strap and attached it from my fence to the pole and it is holding it up, but the strap may not hold forever.

Power company says they don't own the pole, just the meter reader on it. So I need an electrician to come out and take care of it.

I'm reading online that it could be thousands of dollars. Someone PLEASE tell me this is not true and if you know of who I should call to get estimates (general contractor?)

Don't know where to begin at this point as this is not my specialty.

I do not know much but it could be part of the county taxes to fix it. They fix power lines and yours sounds like it.

Yeah, that's what I thought but problem is the pole is on my property and they dont own it, it was installed by whoever lived here before me.

The poles along the road the electric company takes care of. Don't think any of it comes from taxes.

I own the utility pole the actual meter is one. I put
the pole in. The cost of repalcing the pole would be
mine as homeowner.

As to the cost...I put my own in. Post hole digger, car
trailer and sackcrete. You're looking for a short pole.

I read that if the pole is not in too bad of condition they can stake it down to keep it straight but I went out and checked and it is soft at the bottom

The pole has to be tall enough to clear the tree, I'd say 20 to 30 feet is what the current one is. No way a pole this size would fit in a normal trailer. I am going to ask the electric company if maybe they can supply me with a used pole and if they install it for a charge that could be worked into my future bills. Hoping there's something they can do for me.

thats what i was thinking it wasnt broke before the tree hit it so rather than insurance the tree sergeon company should replace it

I would think insurance. I'm sure the tree company denied
fault. But give it a a go.

Either way you probably shouldn't mess with trying to replace
it yourself. Some serious electric coming into the top of the box.

Insurance is EXTREMELY expensive here in FL, I am lucky to have this one company. I was with the company of last resort run by the state that was more than double. I wouldn't even want to think of putting in a claim I have been claim free with them I think that's why they haven't upped my rates when everyone else's are.

The more I think about it...even though it was a "small" branch that hit the line and caused this, I could try and go after the tree company but I know he would fight it tooth and nail with me...he copped an attitude with me already when I tried asking him questions about the tree. I don't want to go down that road either.
