How often do grown roosters crow?

I am just trying to figure out if I need to get rid of him or not. I don't want complaints from neighbors. We live on an acre and have neighbors on both sides.

Thanks.
J.

I have 2 roos that are almost 7 months old and they crow all day long too, usually starting around 6am.

My question is do they mellow out with age or are they this crazy to the bittersweet end?

I should add that I bribe my neighbors with free eggs for putting up with the natural alarm clock.

Mine crows every 5 minutes starting about 5 am, for about an hour. Then he crows off and on all day. He also crows twice for me whenever I go to the garage/chicken house.

I am sure he will crow more after my young roosters start crowing.

We have two roosters. One is 2 years old now, and he starts crowing when there is just barely light showing in the early morning. Then Foghorn will answer back to him, and he will answer back, etc. etc. etc. They both crow once and a while throughout the day, mainly when they hear another noise or when they are talking to each other. Sometimes, when they see someone that they know, they will crow to them, like they are saying "Hi!" to them. LOL

One time, when our younger rooster (Foghorn) started crowing, I timed the seconds between each crow he made. Average was every 10 seconds! LOL So he would crow, wait about 10 seconds, crow again, wait another 10 seconds, then crow again, etc. etc. etc.

But crowing is a natural thing for roosters; it's just like they are talking! They don't know when enough crowing is enough, and it's not their fault, right? No one told them, "OK if you don't stop crowing(or talking, to them anyways), then you are going to be given away."

Imagine what they think of humans: Talk talk talk talk talk talk...! That's all we do basically! LOL

Must be annoying, but imagine that because you were talking too much, you were going to be sold or given away to someone...?

That doesn't make sense! LOL

So before you give away your rooster, remember that it's normal and it's an instinct; to them, it's just like they are talking to each other. nothing wrong with that, right? And remember that most ALL roosters crow a lot, except some crow less often than others. And remember that they usually always have a reason; whether it's just that they hear something, see something, are talking to another rooster, or they are just saying good morning or good night.

If your neighbors start to complain, do what chandasue does; bribe them with free eggs!
