Rooster crowing getting worse

I have a indoor pet silver laced wyandotte rooster who has been inside with me before he started crowing. I have a recording of his very early crowing and its not exactly like yours but very similar. They start off sounding odd like that and eventually refine it as they get older.

Im sure its dependent on the individual just like how everyone has a different voice, but since hes a youngster I wouldn't worry. If mine started sounding like that now then it would cause concern. But IMO after spending way more time with a rooster than I ever thought I would, I believe hes ok.

FWIW I feel like you got lucky that he started late, I think mine was crowing much younger and hasn't stopped.

No worries. Of course if you notice other things then it could be a different story but the sound of the crow by itself and him just starting seems in line with my experience.

What breed is he? Can you post a video of him crowing? (Unfortunately, you can't upload videos directly to a thread, but a YouTube link is fine.)

Typically, a rooster's crow changes as they mature and their voice better develops. Some roosters have better crows than others, and sometimes that's based on breed. To me, what you're describing sounds like a Barred Rock crow.

I should not have played that at 1AM, my brooder chicks are peeping like crazy.
