How old are our new silkies?? Thoughts on gender??

Gosh I would say your silkies look more like 2 to 3 months old.. I have photos of mine a 2 months and they look about like yours in the photos (with the sheath(not sure if that is what that is called) still around the feathers at the comb area, etc). Mine just turned 4 months old on the 6th and my Blue Roo just started crowing this morning but both my white and Patridge Roos have been Crowing for about a month. The Blue Roo has hardly any comb or waddles and up until this am I was undecided.

See thats what I thought too about the 'sheath' around their feathers. This roo still has not crowed yet but he loves to set and do that 'chuk chuk' while I'm holding him lol I make kissie sounds at him and he talks back to me..he's a sweetheart!!

Might be interested in a pair or trio of your Blue chicks at 0-4 weeks old.

Will you be at the Waterloo swap this month???

Ok the roo is gorgous. I have a couple of questions, are you NPIP ? what is his personality like my DD 6 handles the birds. do you have any pics of his offspring? do you have a side pic of him ? I might be interested in some of the youngsters too. I have to take my dog Jake to Dr. Frick today he has been having seizures, so I'll know how much is in the critter budget later today.

I don't care for silkies but I do like you folks so I read many of the threads that may not be about breeds I like. Just one thing I wish, is that when you use things like "SQ" and "DQ" you would first put the what it means and then use the abbreviations..
So, "SQ" means show quality, "SQ"? but what does "DQ" mean?

SQ = show quality (like you said)
PQ = pet quality...generally has a fault of some sort...not the right number of toes, etc.
DQ = a disqualification from showing; not the right number of toes, red comb, single comb, etc.
BQ = breeder quality; no dq's but not SQ; not quite enough crest, wings not as tight as they could be, etc....
