Hello,
I have a GLW pullet who is 6 months old. This morning she was outside of the run and when I finally caught her there was blood on my hand and I examined her foot to find a small cut on her middle toe. It's maybe a centimeter or less long ways and looks like a paper cut. It's not bleeding anymore, but I don't want it to get infected. I'm not sure how to bandage it. I have Neosporin, vet-wrap, and some guaze. (I have Blu-Kote too. I use it on the goats and it works well for them for any cuts, scratches, etc. Can that be used for chickens?) Despite having animals for so long, I've never had an injury to actually bandage before. What should I use and how should I apply it?

I'd give it a good clean. Soak in Epsom salt is good too. If it's not to deep you could use the Blu-Kote and a bandaid.

If it's deeper then a paper cut or more of a slice I'd go with the Epsom salt soak then bandage. Gauze and vet wrap will work fine. You'll have to keep an eye that it stays on but it usually does.

Check and change as needed. Depending on how easily the chicken can be handled.

Thank you, I'll do that. She's all right once I have her in my arms, it's catching her that's problematic.

Yes, I'll have to use that way in the future. Luckily (for this case anyway) it has been raining all afternoon so I was able to grab her fairly easily in the coop. Then she got her special spa treatment and she acted like a queen  She is a very pretty chicken though; the picture doesn't do her justice

Her foot is nice and bandaged now and she doesn't even really notice it.
