How to catch Cave Crickets?

I will admit, I did think about it, but the crickets are mostly in my dad's old workshop, and there are more dangerous things in there than the crickets, so I have to bring the crickets to them -yuck!

I've always called them camel crickets--but I think we're talking about the same insect. If you put a piece of duct tape out--sticky side up--in an area where you've spotted the crickets, they will hop on and not be able to escape. Once one of them is stuck, he'll attract more of his friends. I think it's easiest to stick the ends of the tape to a brown paper grocery bag that's flattened out. It makes transporting your "catch" a lot easier. I would guess that the chickens would be able to pick them off the duct tape without much trouble.

My wife started calling those "spider crickets" one day, just out of the blue. I asked where she came up with the name "spider cricket," and she couldn't really say...to her, they just that they looked like something you'd call a spider cricket.

I thought it was funny until I did a google image search for "spider crickets." Turns out, she's not the only one who thought they should be called spider crickets, as that's apparently a common name for them.

The lesson here, clearly, is that even when she and I both know she's pulling something out of thin air, she's probably still right.

You have them too?? Omg, I am terrified of them! They are in our basment and our garage. They are Giant!! We actually catch them in mouse traps! glue and snap. but my brave daughter is not afraid of them at all, and if she sees one she will put a cup over it, and put it outside

BTW I'm right in Fair Haven, 10 minutes from you...I also at first just called them spider crickets, cause they're like nasty jumping spiders. lol. Those things jump like 10 feet, and they always jump RIGHT AT ME lol!

Cave cricket=harvestman=camel cricket=the things that ate off Floyd Collin's nose (post mortem) teeheehee

Try putting a 5 gallon bucket in a dark corner of the basement with the bait - cut potato or such. If you catch some just slap the lid on and take out to your flock.
