How to hold a chicken... looking for pics showing correct technique.

Hold a chicken as you would a cat(kinda)...one hand supporting the feet and the other holding the wings closed and against your body.

Or as big chicken outfits do...upside down with the legs laced between your fingers, one chicken in each hand.(best method of transportation between barns)

Wyatt can do it the 4H way (like described for showing) when he is actually in the arena, but we find this to be more secure if we just have to tote them from one place to another.

Those pictures of the "football carry" should put this matter to rest. It's the best, all around way to carry a chicken. No matter how nervous and excitable, any chicken will feel secure and calm being carried in this manner.

This is, of course, the best hold for transporting a chicken. If you want to love and cuddle a chicken, there's no end to ways and holds for that.

What everyone has said is good. I've discovered the squawkers will settle down once I've held them against my body (in front) for a while.

I have someone that comes over to visit and always upsets my chickens the way she carries them. I have told her not to carry them that way. She picks them up and has them kind of "reclined" if that makes sense. They HATE that! They don't like to be tipped back. I've told her to carry them level.
