How to make brooder smell better

My chicks are living in a brooder and I just cleaned it yesterday, and it already smells. I was wondering if anyone uses a chick safe deodorizer in their brooder? to keep it smelling fresh.

there is like a powder that i sprinkle in the brooder and it takes the smell away for about a week. i think its made by Flock Leader? i will try to find what its called

That looks way too small, that’s why it smells. I used a 100 gallon Rubbermaid Tub to brood 4 chicks and they outgrew it by 5 weeks when I moved them out.

Some people use large boxes taped together as brooders.

I add some fresh rosemary tiny leafs in it, it turns into bedding materials as well. Those leafs are too big for the baby chicks to eat it.

When they got bigger, I clean their brooder every day. They poops non stop.

Clean it more often...multiple times a day.


I agree...get a bigger one asap.

Move the waterer away from the edge so that way they can walk all the way around it.

Is it closed up all the way? Open the top covers so they can get some fresh air.
It looks like it is too hot in there too.
What temp is it?

I know. I really want to get them out of there, but I have six week old chicks in my other brooder right now. When do you suggest moving the six week old chicks into my flock?
