How to make my polish hen see

I don't quite want to trim her feathers, they're quite lush, but she can't see and she's pretty nervous because of that. Is tying her hair loosely back with a hair tie bad to do? Or painful? Please help.

I see lots of polish owners on Instagram use those soft little rubber hair bands, about the size of a finger to create a loose bun of feathers. The birds appreciate the new outlook on life.

I’ve done this with one of those little mini rubber bands to a silkie who was terrified of everything. She is still spooky but she was very happy about seeing! She looked at me a long time! Never occurred to me she really only saw either my feet or fingertips when hand feeding!
