How to proceed with this 'funky', saddled air cell?

Yeah I've had some incidents myself. Here's another one of mine.

Glad I've already been through assisting and kind of knew what to do with this crazy air cell business.
You've got to be f... kidding me! WOW! That is... something else....
1 of my shipped eggs arrived broken and unfortunately the albumen had been oozing out (and most likely for days) but, trust me, I was ogling my wax candles...

BTW, I really appreciate it that you follow through with updates! So many threads are started and then... crickets.
What can I say? I'm not a fan of cliffhangers. So thank you for providing all the various updates on Miracle. 💜

Wow that's really bad .. I just had a shipment of Marans eggs. One was cracked and I melted candle all over it. It actually started developing but died after a week or so. I was so sad. Hatching eggs is not for the faint of heart.

I also fear that hot wax will potential hurt the membrane when it comes in contact with it.

I wondered about that but it didn't hurt Miracle and it did allow my broken shipped egg to start development at least. I feel in my case the risk is worth it.
Oh, absolutely! I really was tempted to try and save my humpty dumpty but at the time, I didn't have a second incubator to avoid any contamination - which I was expecting to be a strong possibility given its less than stellar packaging and the slight dirt I spotted on the other eggs. (That additional incubator came 3 days later. 😔)

I am left wondering if a cracked egg might be best 'patched up' using a medical tape first, or another means of avoiding direct contact by, for instance, applying a teabag (paper mesh), and then dripping wax on top of that.
Anyway, your intervention made a difference to Miracle and, I am guessing, she, in return, is making a difference to you. 🥰

Edit: Just reading up on the day by day changes described in this fabulous link (provided by member Wyorp Rock in your thread): https://www.raising-happy-chickens.com/how-to-incubate-an-egg.html
"A cracked egg which has not oozed may be saved, but an egg which has cracked and oozed will not hatch. If it is left in the humidity and warmth of an incubator, it is likely to explode and shower bacteria on the other eggs."
So much for my humpty dumpty...

You seem to know a thing or 2 about shipped eggs and I am wondering if you have some advice for me...
The shipped eggs I have are bantams and I put them into the incubator on the 12th just before noon (11:30 to be precise). Some people say this counts as day 0 others say this counts as day 1. I am also unclear when they should go into lockdown... Again, I am getting conflicting information.

Gail Dammerow apparently talks about bantam eggs hatching at day 19 or 20. The breeder, however, feels that since they were shipped, it will take longer. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Depending on how I count the days, tomorrow is either day 16 or day 17 of their incubation.... Should I stop the egg turner tomorrow morning, lay those onto their sides that don't have significant saddles but keep the others upright (?) and... reduce the temperature a little? Maybe leave the humidity at around 50% for another day? Or go into full lockdown mode??
Y/help!

Ok so for starts .. 24 hours is 1 day. When I put eggs in it is day 0. 24 hours later it's 1 day. My incubators usually count backwards from day 21. Lockdown is at 18 days. I don't have experience with bantams but my smaller eggs tend to hatch just a bit sooner than my larger eggs. Also if the heat is a bit warmer they hatch sooner as well I have noticed. I have not noticed shipping to have any effect on hatch time specifically. For my saddled egg I took it out from the turner on day 15 or so and just laid it on the side. I let the chick have extra time to figure out it's position and help as soon as it was ready to be out. Sometimes I have staggered hatches and I'll either move some to the hatched or just stop the turner a bit early like day 15 or 16. I would not reduce temperature. Humidity for my local area specifically does best at 50-60% for hatch. I have to dry incubate here because it's so horribly humid.

Ah, thank you for this! In the meantime, with my anxiety spiking, I made this a general post just now, so I will see if others chime in as well.
I, too, have a staggered hatch right now but I also have a separate incubator. Yay! ;)
So I will take the first batch out of the incubator with the egg turner and let them rest.
Thanks for the advice - much appreciated!

That's the best way. Have 2 and use one as a hatcher. I put my saddle egg in the hatcher before others to give it best chance at orientation. You will be fine. You're already on top of this.
