Help! We had x2 wild roosters that just showed up a few months ago. One boy was severely injured and we had to take him to put him to sleep. His buddy was very depressed and wouldn’t come out of his nesting tree. I want to help this guy stay safe and protected. Should I buy a coop for him? Any ideas? Thank you! Ps the law in our area says it’s legal to have them here.

If he is depressed it is probably because he is lonely.I would try to catch him and either
A. Give him to someone who has chickens. or
B. Buy a coop and some hens.
The second route is more expensive but very fun. 😝 You probably will need to quarantine him, check him for mites, and deworm him.

Also I would not recommend buying a prefab coop.If you go to the “articles” section of this website you can find all sorts of coop designs and plans. If you live near a Tractor Supply store (or any other farm store) you can buy feeders and food for him. Please keep us updated!
