Thanks! Your information was very helpful!Silkies can't be sexed other than by DNA until they are around 4 months old. You can start seeing some signs at around 3 months, but I'm never absolutely positive on some until they are nearly 5 months old.
It's easier to tell on the males as they get what's called a walnut comb. At 3 months or so, their comb may just look a little more prominent than the females, and their wattles come in a bit before hers do too. Closer to 4 months, the males may try crowing. They'll also get hackle feathers on the back of their necks. Some never know until the males crow and the females lay an egg.
