Hey there folks, thanks for letting me join this group. I have been a chicken owner for about 14 years now. We have a low number of byc's and probably going to drop down a little lower next weekend. We have 24 hens a 1 rooster at the moment, along with 11 freshly hatched chick's.

We have a mixed up batch of chickens. Sue Sex, Red Stars, Lavender Buffs, Barred Rocks, Dominickers, and Astrolopes. That's all the adults.

We have, New Hampshire Reds, Lavender mix, and not sure yet what the other chick's are going to turn out to be (tbd) lol.

We have been keeping chickens for many years. Last couple of years we have ran into an issue with our chickens (all of them at one point was over 40+) stopped laying eggs during the middle of summer. Their ages vary a lot. Some of them were 1 year old and others were 3 years old. Every single one stopped laying at the same time. This lasted for months, as in we didn't get a single egg until the middle of spring and it was only from a new batch we brought in. I filled out a few in order to make room for the new ones. They have plenty of room (1 and 1/2 acres just for them) and plenty of food and water. No varmints (Guard Dogs šŸ˜‰ ) we culled out the oldest ones. Now we are going into the last of 2 years without a single egg from some of these leftover chickens. My Barred Rocks are now over (2) years old and haven't laid the first egg. We ordered them from Ideal Poultry. I'm not sure why they aren't laying. Any suggestions on what could be going on???
They use to get Tractor Supply feed but not now.
I feed high quality food (Henhouse Reserve) and have for a good while now.
I have gotten (2) eggs in the last 4 days now with (24 hens).
Have a Blessed Day!
