Hurricane Irene

I am planning on having the girls in our basement, it usually floods about 6 inches, so they will be up on a workbench that is about 4 ft off the ground. The run they are in has a REALLY bad track record with trees and tropical things. The same trees I am so thankful for for shade become a threat.
Thanks for the reminder, some might think a basement would stay dry. HA.

Buff: I make it a rule only to drink gin in non-emergency times and then only Bombay Saphire over ice with lime. Keep in mind thatm 99 percent of my life is non-emergency.

I am really concerned about my hens, I live in the middle of two hills and we always get a ton of wind and rain, and last time we had the tornado in MA it funneled right over my chicken coop *I was the dumb person who ran out to save them then...*
I dont have room in my basement, as I am also Animal Control, and will be boarding any town animals who need shelter while there owners are at the shelter.
So im preying that it goes around us T_T

Hi all, UH OH! Sounds like it's really going to a bad one. The news reports are getting a whole lot more serious here on Long Island. My entire family lives on the water on the South Shore of LI and they may all be evacuated. And now I am really worried about that tree just over the coop. We may needing the ladies eggs more than ever. Plus, I love them and don't want any harm to come to them. They are sooooo cute!

Blessing to all on the East coast. Our

We just had a pre Irene thunderstorm roll through with possible wind gusts to 60mph - and I do believe a couple of times that may have happened as our windows shook and screens rattled. I didn't lock the chicks in their coop yet b/c it was just supposed to be a thunderstorm - not a severe storm. I looked outside at the worst part of it and they were running around in their run! Silly chickens - don't they know enough to get in out of the rain. Still getting some lightning from that storm so I'll wait a bit to go and put them inside and lock that door!
