You have some very pretty girls!Thank you. This is my first time having chickens.
To be fair they never said she was a Barred Rock, just a Plymouth Rock, of which there are many different color varieties. That said, Silver Laced is not one of those varieties (there is silver pencilled though which is different) and also the comb is all wrong so I do agree that she looks more like a Silver Laced Wyandotte. But I just wanted to point out that there ARE more colors in the breed in case anyone else reads this and didn’t know. There’s currently 8 colors accepted although black is bantam only so technically 7 if we’re talking large fowl. But yeah.100% normal! As they mature, chicks develop more (red) color to their comb, wattles, and face.View attachment 3978302
This is a rhode island red, but you can see that her whole face is red where it's not covered with feathers.
BTW, I'm not sure that's a barred rock. Rocks should have a single comb (like my RIR here) and the pattern is wrong. She looks more like a silver laced wyandotte to me.
AgreedYou have some very pretty girls!
You're right! My reading skills get a little sloppy towards the end of my lunch break. To be fair they never said she was a Barred Rock, just a Plymouth Rock, of which there are many different color varieties.
