Mine won't get rid of old, decrepit things. Ancient comforters, pillows, stuff that goes back to before I knew him. Easily around 15 years of age on this stuff.

I just fix them up if I can...

(At least that means he's probably never getting rid of me, either

When our cats were younger, our toilet paper would be in shreds and all over the bathroom.

As adults, they haven't done that in a while. They're outside most of the time though.

MDH loves to let the chickens free range early in the weekends. Even if I say he shouldn’t because they wander off too far if they are out and about the whole day.

One more thing. He rarely throws away an empty package of whatever he finished. Or even worse he doesn’t empty it and takes a new one. Toothpaste, marmalade, mayonnaise, soap, …..

He reminds me of when my sons still lived at home. Nobody would ever finish a box of cereal. If there wasn't enough for a heaping bowl, they'd open a new one of something else.

So they think we should just finish all this stuff off?

Gosh, my mom was so frugal, she would first get every bit of toothpaste she could out of the tube. Then she'd cut the end off and run scissors up the side to open it up. She'd brag how she could brush her teeth three more times than Colgate said.

Have you asked why? In my childhood (and now), I almost never took the rest of a food item because someone else might also want some.
