I know they are part of the food chain, but I just want them to stay far away from me. In Florida it was the giant flying cockroaches and huge spiders. If you have poultry, then you likely know about mites and lice. Mosquitoes and ticks are the ones that torment us most in VA.
Tell me which bugs you hate and why. Plus, how do you deal with them?
As always, BYC rules apply. Be nice to each other.

One possible bug solution in the house.

I hate mosquitoes. I'm allergic to their bites; when I get bit, the bite swells up to 5 times the size and if it is a spot that gets rubbed by clothes it gets even bigger and hard. And they are attracted to me even if I wear a repellent so...
I use lavender and marigolds to deter the mosquitoes from my property but not everyone in Wisconsin knows this trick so any other place I go, has lots of mosquitoes. I will brush up against these plants before leaving my property to go to someone else's place.

Dirt daubers, wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, and fire ants.

I'm not scared of them just hate the stinking things. Dirt daubers just build their mud nests on everything. Wasps are always building nests in our sheds and I get popped 4 or 5 times a year. Hornets because they hurt like crap. Yellow jackets are just evil, building in the ground and then chasing after you when you mow over the top of them. The fire ants have taken over my pasture.

Nothing you can really do about them either. Sure you can spray to kill them but they come right back.

Right now I want to burn every ladybug that dares to cross my path. I was working on the fence the other day and they were biting non-stop. It doesn't hurt bad but it's just so annoying. Ticks because despite various preventatives my 14.5 year old dog is on yet another round of doxycycline due to Lyme Disease flare up. We spray the dogs and ourselves with diluted lemongrass and citronella oils and do thorough checks nightly when we start seeing them. In the spring it's the ants that I cannot keep out of the kitchen. Sprinkling cinnamon on the windowsill and edges of the counters worked well, though it looked messy. I would probably puke if a giant cockroach flew at me.

Those are likely the Asian look alike bugs that are biting you. They are more of an Orange color. Those and the stink bugs try to get inside to spend the winter.

Without a doubt, TICKS! Disease carrying useless parasites. Ever since we had chickens ticks not an issue :woot
Though my chickens free range, there are areas of the property that aren't fenced so they don't go. I have to apply a thick layer of "Off!" to even walk over there and then immediately bathe to get the stuff off. I'm very allergic to ticks and chiggers and poison ivy due to so many encounters. Around the house we don't have anything and I don't use poison since my horses and cows graze the yard once in a while. Chickens are great.

God’s version of natural pest control lol.
