I have 100 pounds of deer corn and sweet feed.

this is all good to know because I have been buying cracked corn for our deer herd here for about 15 years. I always get cracked corn, tho.

I only feed the deer because we came to an agreement of sorts.... they eat the corn and they leave my garden and shrubs, etc alone. So far so good.

I have put up sooo much corn for the winter it's not even funny

I live in Texas corn country and live at a feedyard.....to put it lightly corn is abundant around here. I spent an entire weekend boiling/blanching/cutting sweet corn with my MIL and let's just say no one in my house likes corn, it's for the chickens

And it was FREE! It was going to be cut and plowed to plant wheat so I got an entire pick-up bed full.

I have access to the field corn scraps at the yard feed mill and I can't use it because I can't figure out how to crack it for my bantams. That stuff is ROCK HARD! I may have to try the pillow case/pickup method

I tried to feed some of that whole kernal corn to my chickens. No luck. They can't crack it. I guess it will go to the deer. Anyone know how to crack corn cheap.

My chickens love to pick corn right off the cob! Never had chickens that didn't eat whole corn. I clean up the field after the farmer's done. Soybeans are in this year, so no free corn.

Deer corn is field corn off the cob, right? Whole corn is always hard. My chickens don't "crack" it, they eat it whole like BOSS. It keeps them busy for awhile when they take it off the cob themselves.

They can eat it whole, as long as they have grit.

If you don't have a grain mill, you can also put it in a doubled sack and crack it with a brick, flat rock, or hammer.

have anyone tried to soak whole corn? does it help chickens to eat it? for how long should it be soaked?
