We just bought our first gqf cabinet incubator. We loaded it with eggs and the loaded it again 5 days later. We are using the water bucket with tray and no sponges. Humidity has been 30-40% the whole time. During first lockdown do we need to bring Humidity up or just let the babies bring it up on their own when hatching in the tray below. Thank u

Hatching eggs should be brought to around 65-70% their last few days to help them hatch. I'd figure a way to try raise it at lockdown.

I just hatched 63 of 67 eggs and kept my GQF at 40 percent the entire time. The 4 that didn't hatch were all in Jumbo eggs. My guess is that the egg was too big for them to get situated to pip.

Last year was my first year with my GQF and did multiple hatches at 40% and averaged a little better than 90% hatch rate.

With all of that being said - my next purchase will be a dedicated cabinet hatcher.

Jumbo eggs being double yokers often try to create 2 chicks in one egg. 2/3 threw one dies, other continues to grow, before hatch date the one doesn't have enough to survive, having grown the other chick 2/3 threw. Both end up dying. That's why I always just eat the double yoker , jumbo eggs, never hatch them. No point. (Plus can't hatch every egg, have to eat some.) This helped select the eating eggs.

Hatch the ones that will survive full hatching process. Not stop growing 14days in due to the situation. (Just how I viewed it. )

I agree with the double yolks never hatching. I eat my jumbo eggs all of the time and never found a double yolk. So in this instance that wasn't the problem. I am done with incubating those. They will be set aside for eating purposes.
