I am looking for support to change the ordinance in Rocklin regarding the 20 feet, currently required, between coop and property line. I have had my girls for 16 years. They have never been a nuisance to any neighbor. Their coop is kept clean. They free range in my completely organic garden that backs to a field. They are pest patrol and soil enhancers. People should be able to keep chickens. People should be ENCOURAGED to be self reliant in these times. To have a law that allows you to keep chickens but puts stipilations that 90% of people can't meet is unfair. If you are a responsible and courteous neighbor the same rights to have any pet should apply. Please, if you are have been served with a violation or are being kept from owning chickens based on this stipulation please join me for the next city counsel meeting.
