Like the title says, I hope this wasn't a bad idea but it's what I could come up with quickly. Just got my 6' fence up....100 feet and the chickens have been out for two days. (in a completely predator proof coop at night). I have 40 and they are almost 7 weeks old. (15 are going to new homes soon)
I was out yesterday afternoon when a screaming hawk flew over the coop to roost on a tree up the hillside. I know hawk was telling it's family about the chickens!
Not having any poultry netting and not sure if I could handle putting it up by myself anyway, I spent the next 2 hours tying yarn crisscross all to the top of the fence making a kind of net. Do you think this will work? (I still need to do some yarn trimming!)

Better than nothing, It'll work until it doesn't :idunno We have hawks overhead daily and I thought for sure they'd be a problem, but it turns out our main predator has been a bobcat instead
That terrifies me! I sure hope it helps....I do have a lot of black chickens, too, so hoping that helps as well.
