I need to vent

Leave it to Government to loose one document out of five.:th I heard from the Zoning board finally. I guess us chicken lovers are very low on the priority list.

Any way they sent me a message that my site plan showing location of the coop and setbacks etc. was missing. I got copy # 2 off to them, I'm hoping I will hear back today but not holding my breath it being this late in the afternoon on a Friday.

My bookie is laying odds that it will be more like Monday at the earliest. Also that I should put some coin down on sea biscuit in the 3rd at Aqueduct. :thumbsup

Anybody what in on this deal. Winner gets bragging rights on this thread. what say you???

What a fiasco!! I'll never move to Orange County.
It sounds like things are moving in a positive direction if they're searching for more documentation. They've probably all gone home by now so no, I wouldn't expect anything today.
I hope you get your approval.

Good morning,
I happy they at least acknowledged the missing page and didn't just say no without some explanation and the fact they reached out and asked for the Doc. tells me they at least want to work with me.

So ill check the mail Monday and see what if any notification I get.

Stay clucky :jumpy

It shows they just put up some random hoops. Didn't you have to submit all the documents at once, in some particular order? But now they'll accept one lonely doc, all on its own?

I really hope it comes down to persistence! You'd get it for sure!
OC. Has the fast Track system which they prefer you use which is supposed to stream line the permitting process, a virtual take a number and get in line.

You are correct, all the Doc have to be individually labeled using a special labeling format. Initially I tried to place the five Doc. into three folders using the labeling they wanted me to use.

The system rejected my first submittal basically giving me an error message in reply with no explanation as to what I did wrong. Later learned system does not play well with folders. each Doc. must be individually labeled then down loaded into their folder which has your unique Permitting Number. Their folder has your application page with Name address etc. plus all the drawings and photos required.

Long story short I found a phone number labeled Zoning which I called. It was in reality a 311 info line which then had to transfer me to the Zoning main switch board which then sent me to the guy I found who explained what I was doing wrong. I had to do that 2x till I got him to give me his direct number. In the end, with all Docs. labeled properly I hit the submission button and it said up load completed. So how they lost one doc is beyond me as I triple checked that all the Docs appeared on the submission page before I hit the button to send.

That's My story and I'm sticking with it.:wee

This is crazy what you're having to go through. I'm following your story in hopes there is a happy ending. :pop

Thank you, I'm sure there will be.

I'm planning that once I get my coop and pen built and girls adopted to approach the county with a better more chicken friendly way to complete the process.

Rather then having to go through the same hoops required to build an apartment building it should be a simple instruction sheet with maybe illustrations and a check list that allows you to drag and drop your Doc to a prelabeled interactive line.

once all lines are filled and your other written info is complete just send it in, you know The KISS principal.:bun

Is everyone staying clucky?

It is March 10 and lots of goings on has occurred since my last post. Rather quickly Last Monday morning at 4AM I was awakened with a pinpoint located pain directly over my heart. I went to the ER and was observed for several hours then admitted.

Long story short It was not a heart attack but the Dr.s feel since I could point to where the pain was exactly it might have been Gas or muscular, rather then heart related. A scan however reveled a 50% calcium blockage that my Dr.s didn't know about.

Moving on. I apologies if this is a little long but non the less interesting. So the saga of my permitting continues, no I still don't have it yet after waiting for 2 weeks now. However there is light at the end of the tunnel.

This afternoon I logged into the Orange County Fast track permitting system and opened the active link associated to my permit number. There has been no change in status since I up loaded the missing doc. requested by zoning 10 days ago or so.

Disappointed and just a little frustrated I decided to call the lady who requested the missing doc. After a little phone tag I got through to her. She was very understanding and quite helpful.

I introduced my self and quickly got her up to speed as to what has taken place. She informed me that she had not received any new documentation since I first sent the application in 2 weeks ago, and that perhaps I forgot to hit the submit button when I uploaded the missing Doc. People forget to hit the submit button all the time she stated. I knew there was no submit button to be found but she insisted.

While I had her on the line I quickly logged into the system and pulled up the page that stated the last doc I sent, [ the requested lost file] indicated by their system that the file went through. She said she had nothing on her end, except from the original application Docs. and once again she insisted that perhaps I did not hit the submit button after up loading the lost file.

While still speaking with her I glanced over the page and spotted a little blue line [active link] off by it's self that read up load new file. I clicked on the link and then quickly pulled up the missing file from my system. I then told her step by step what I was doing. Dragging and dropping the file into the field, it connected and I hit the up load tab which immediately stated up load successful, I then scrawled down to the bottom of the page just a line or two distance wise and I stated to her there is absolutely no submit button to be seen.

I told her what an ordeal the system had been and it shouldn't be this much of a problem to get some chickens, she agreed and then said you know, there is a staff of people that can help you with any problems your having navigating the instructions and can explain the little quirks in the system.

I was dumb struck, I'm thinking wait you have a staff of people I can contact that deal with this stuff all the time but no where in any of the poorly explained instructions does it refer to this group or how to contact them. Are you kidding me.???????

Any way she promised to continue to look for the missing files and we hug up. I went and ran some errands and when I got home logged back in. Several new lines of Info have been added to the states line of my permit, letting me know that they ether must have found my file or have added the one I sent her in a private email.

Regardless she said when she finds out what's going on I should know by the close of business Wed. Where I stand with my permit.

Fingers crossed.

Stay Clucky. :wee

I'm glad you're ok!

You're right -- it shouldn't be that hard to get some chickens. And rather than investing in a team of people to help users navigate the system, they ought to invest in a usable system!
Thank you I'm glad I'm ok also.
So I asked her who I had to talked to to help develop a better system or help fix the bugs in this one. Her reply I really don't know who to send you to.:he
