I need your insight on how many chickens to put in my coop!

Ah. Downloading & blowing up pics, I see some ventilatin at the roof lines of the coop. (#1).

I drew on your pic... you could add ventilation where I have marks. Above the door (fat fingers don't draw well on phone). You could utilize cut out section like a window & hinge to open or could permanently attach like an awning

Then below the roof line on the side opening to the coop. That's protected by run roof.

On your tractor, you could open triangles. Blue is smaller or larger follow blue & yellow lines...

Thank you so so much for the helpful illustrations! That gives me some ideas of what I can do!:)

Yes...Several. They handle it well, although they have gotten frostbite several times (mostly my roos.) Their coops are insulated and stay a few degrees warmer than outside. We do a deep litter method in the winter so that the extra bedding keeps the coop warmer. They are all cold hardy breeds.
I live in the Midwest as well.
off subject but you can put Vaseline on there combs to prevent frost bite

Have you been thru a winter yet?

It's really best to leave the combs as they are, putting anything on them can make it worse, both before and after frostbite.
Yes I have been thru 4 winters, going on 5 with my chickens. The vaseline or coconut oil surprisngly helps because it never seems to freeze and it makes their wattles and combs warmer :)
