Good to know! Thank you for your reply! We did sign up for the free rooster, so likely he is a boy.I had one just like that (also from Meyer) and I believe he was the “flock protector” free rooster. 90% sure he was a RIR or similar breed. Never got to see how big he got but he made good soup! He was a shiny all red bird with yellow legs, straight comb and black tail feathers. Sadly I don’t have any photos of him on this phone.
That might be true. Meyer has red sex link, I believe.Maybe one of those production breeds? It’s going to be easier in a few weeks when it starts feathering out.
Definitely looks the same, Id guess Road Island Red. However, I wonder which of those chicks is the girl and which is the boy? I’m not convinced that your EE is a girl. You might have it backwards. Keep an eye on them.I just got my Meyer shipment and received this little one as my “homestead helper” rooster chick. Looks just like the one I got last time and likely the same as yours. So cute but I know he’ll be a little terror once he hits maturity and I am trying to stay away from the big single combs due to our cold winters. He will be raised alongside the Cornish cross and a handful of other cockerels for the table.

Also received this “meal maker” which I’m guessing is an EE pullet based off lightly feathered legs and what seems to be muffs. Time will tell!
