Illinois...

The chickens have decided to today in the rafters rather than their roost. This doesn't bother me that much. But then they decided to roost in the rafters on the other side of the shed and poop on my riding mower... infuriating!!! I finally decided to close off between the trusses in the shed roof to keep the chickens on their side. Hopefully it keeps their dust on their side too.

Getting plenty of green eggs here! 5-8 eggs per day from 8 hens. I believe they are olive eggers and Easter eggers if memory serves me right.

ETA Our Frenchie, Rubble, prevent an opossum attack. He found one hiding under the shed and ran under there after it. He's fine and the opossum is gone now. I added some boards around the base of the shed to prevent any future incidents.
Bad chickens, good dog ❤️

I seen a weasel running through the poultry yard yesterday. I thought one might be around because I have not seen any chipmunks 🐿️.
They are hard to catch.

Things that show up in my poultry yard. :lau

My littles are spending full days outside now and just going to their brooder to sleep. They were in a crate in the run for a few days and then I put up a make-shift "patio" for them so they can get some outside time. The big girls can come and go through the coop but the littles haven't figured that out yet so they stay in the run and the patio. The dogs hate it because keeping pullets in means having to keep dogs out. I'm hoping in another week, they can start sleeping in the coop but we'll see. They're 7 weeks today.

Tan egg: I was told there were a lot of meatbird eggs, but looks like a buff orp to me

These were extra fertile eggs from the education office. They were "homeless" and somehow they ended up in my incubator. I was told the teachers usually get 50% hatch, so I put in as many as would fit..... Oops. My son built a very big and very successful incubator.

Do you suspect this may be by the raccoon and opossum delivery crowd ????

Cant help, digging this one out to share :thumbsup

Lol not dumped like the predators. I posted on FB and someone said it was by their house a couple miles away a day ago. Later the owner replied but he's working.....but it wasn't around at dawn ....I don't think I could've caught him anyway.
