I'm curious, What charities or gifts are you giving to this year?

I just gave to the police charity drive here in town the money goes to bring underprivilidged kids in town to the circus
And I go out at and buy a lot of toys in about 1 month for the toy drive at my husband's local I usually spend about $100 there also I usually give to 2 more local charities but things are tight this year.

I love the heifer project, and now I will have to give chickens to everyone I know for the holidays - through the project of course. Chickens - a totally renewable resource with downright useful by-products!

Annually we give to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.
We are also going to be donating to the local food banks this year.
I also donate 10% of all my MyMomsFudge and FestiveChicken sales to CanterUSA through the months of Nov and Dec

I give donations in honor of people who haven't sent me thank-you notes for past gifts.

They didn't like the gift I picked out, hope they like a donation. So I've given to the American Liver Foundation in honor of my uncle who is a liver transplant recipient, the Guttmacher Institute and Planned Parenthood in honor of every relative who pesters me about "why don't you have any children?", the Humane Society in honor of the relatives who think that my house is where they can leave their pets when they are tired of responsibility, and so on. If I'm not sure what to get them, they get a donation to Amnesty International or the Audobon Society.

We give all year long, by monthly automatic deduction, to:

St. Jude
Operation Smile
Christian Childrens Fund
World Vision
Heifer

All great organizations who could really use your donations throughout the year.

We donate food to Second Harvest. I also give away things to thrift stores without getting a tax-deduction receipt. I don't want money back for donating.

Also, there those of us that need to keep in mind "Charity begins at home". With all adult children in the family, we are all having to deal with heat, gas, electricity and I'm sure snow removal. One of these adult children is filing for bankruptcy and receiving anything from a family member that is in that place is wrong.
So we have decided to have a brunch, hang out for a few hours, and belch. What we all need this year is love and love is free.

Although if we had the money to share on the world, I would be first one in line.
