I've got 3 babies that are 4 weeks old. They are full size chicken breeds, but hatched by a Silkie mama. When the Silkie went broody I gave her the 3 eggs, but not sure of which hen they came from. (I have numerous breeds.) I have one Buff Orpington rooster, so I know who the dad is. I am curious to see what other folks think the hen breed might've been for each chick. Here's a list of breeds I have: Buff Orpington, RIR, New Hampshire, Black Australorp, Delaware, Silver Laced Wyandotte and Golden Laced Wyandotte.
I sexed them when they were day old chicks. The white is a cockerel and the yellowish are both pullets. From their coloring, I believe the cockerel to be from a Delaware hen. The lighter of the two pullets I believe might be a Buff Orpington hen and the darker one to be from a RIR hen. And like I mentioned before, the Buff Orpington rooster is the papa.
So tell me whatcha think.
