I managed to find a suitable mount for the lantern. It turned out to be a steel angle, which, it seems, once upon a time a shelf in the bathroom was attached to.

I deliberately moved the lantern to the right of the door so that if I were to throw hay from the attic, I wouldn't break this lantern too.
