Inbreeding and Breeding Small flock

Oh wow! Do you think I'll get busted by the policies in my area? They don't allow chicken roosters, but I live in an area where we hear coyotes howl and hawks screech practically every minute.

Please make sure to go through the articles that I posted a link to before. It sounds like you have a lot of chicken experience, but quail are NOT chickens.
I will! Thank you for all the help! It's so nice to have such a knowledgable community! You're great!

I would check with your local animal control. Coturnix quail aren't regulated in most places, though, other than a maximum number that you can have.

I do own chickens though! I could have my little bantam hatch the quail! Could that work?
Not likely. I had one hatch a quail egg, but only because she was on her own eggs the whole time too. She likely wouldn't have cared for the quail chick if it had been the only thing to hatch because it was too slow compared to chicken chicks

Lots of hiding places. If it's a proper aviary setting the floor will be dirt, so you won't need a separate dirt/sand bath, but if you have some other type of floor, make sure they have a dirt or sand bath. Plain old garden dirt or construction sand is best.
